| Derma Scrub Mediterranean Sea Salt Scrub |
There are many excellent body and facial scrubs on the market so why
should Scent ChickS make one? Surely we cannot compete with all those
big companies? You are right. We cannot compete. But, guess what? We
aren't in competiton. They produce great stuff and we are sure you love
them. But since our aim is to produce products that are,at the very least
equal in quality to, if not better, than the much more expensive similar
products on the market, we feel that our scrub will prove more
satisfying in the long run...less expensive, but definitely NOT cheaper.
For sure, our scrub is a bit different. For starters, we use Dracaena
(aka Draco)Tree oil. What is this tree? It is an unusual tree with a grey
bark and grey-green leaves. Although woody it is botanically closer to a
lily than to most other trees (and you know how much we love lily and use
it as our signature scent). It produces white flowers in summer, followed
by bright orange fruit which had great medicinal significance in ancient
times. Even Pliny liked it and used it.
Draco trees branch every fifteen years or so after they
flower, giving the trees their regular branching appearance.
With the baobab tree they share the distinction of being the
oldest living representative of the vegetable kingdom and you
know how popular baobab tree oil is in the top lines of high
end cosmetic companies. We could have used baobab oil
(it cost the same) but we preferred to use draco tree oil because of its
wonderful fragrance. "Dragon's blood" is what it is often referred to and
we love its rich, warm scent and find it imparts a pleasant but very, very
subtle, slightly woodsy oriental fragrance to our scrub.
Plants form an important part of skin therapies, with the message from
nature they carry and their close association with traditional and holistic
medicine. So we use Draco Oil for its extra absorbent qualities and its
reputation for helping skin look younger and brighter.
We add kaolin "scrub" beads which are very gentle, nourishing and fine
textured to act as a binder for our finest Mediterranean sea salt which
helps form the basis of this exfoliating scrub. We mix this with our
extra moisturising body butter and voilà !

It is slightly more abrasive than our Derma Lustre so we suggest you not
use it every day. A few times a week should suffice.
