Our Glycerine Soaps
Let's start out by stating that All soaps have glycerine. It's a normal
byproduct of soap making. However, we never take any of it out as so
many other soap makers, including the best commercial ones, do because
we believe so much in glycerine's natural humectant (draws water from
the air) and nourishing properties. Remember how you used it on chapped
lips? The chemical process that makes soap also makes glycerin which
is a natural emollient that improves lather and provides a soap that is
gentler to the skin.
Of course, each of our soaps soap is individually hand made. We also
use "super fatting". That means we add a little extra oil to further
help and protect your skin from drying out. You will find that we, Scent
ChickS, typically formulate our soaps using soothing emollient natural oils
that absorb readily into your skin such as Shea butter, avocado butter,
jojoba oil, almond oil, and olive oil far their superior mildness and
skin-loving properties.
We put our glycerine soaps in a special category simply because our other
soaps have something different. Our goat's milk soaps have goat's milk
in them and so may not please persons who are vegan. Our olive oil soaps
use more traditional recipes and answer to those persons who are
looking for baby soap, Castile soap, savon de Marseille or similar extra
mils soaps. Our soy soaps, our newest offerings, are intended for those
people who like the extra lathering properties of soy.
As you can see, we have developed different formulations for different
needs and tastes. It's your call.

| For our first Christmas show we made a soap using the following ingredients. To our glycerine soap base we added frankincense, myrrh, sweet orange and balsam fir essential oils. Then we mixed in golden mica. It was beautiful;Sensational we, though light, was Sensational we called it "Gifts of the Magi". Although we first made as a Christmas soap, people loved the smell and its rich gold colour so much, that we now make it throughout the year. It is energising and invigorating. | Our surprise soap. This is the fun soap we make when we are testing our colourants and fragrances so we can never replicate it exactly. It has turned into one of our most popular soaps. People who are looking for something different absolutely love its bright and funky look. Plus we make sure that the fragrances meld together into a light scent that cannot be defined but that is both pleasant and adapted to the look of the soap. Here are two examples of this soap. | Now we know, there are some people who say they "hate lavender". Others say they "love it". We wondered why this big difference in attitude. After studying up on it we learned that there are several species of lavender, and that using higher grade species of lavender from various countries in toiletry or perfumery makes all the difference in the world! So if YOU'VE had a bad lavender experience, we invite you to try our soaps...we think you'll change your mind because we use only the very best pure essential lavender oil with its delicate, but rich, fragrance. The calming and soothing properties of lavender make it unique; it is both refreshing and soothing for the psyche and also for the skin. It even helps take the sting away when there are bug bites. This soap is perfect for de-stressing after a long day. It's great for kids and is gentle enough for their skin Plus it acts as a skin toner for you. We add ylang- ylang which is also well known for its relaxing and sedative properties and avocado for extra richness. These pictures do not do it justice. We change our moulds now and then to make this soap even more representative of the lavender fields of Provence which lend their beautiful colouring to this soap. Sometimes, we make this soap with swirls of white and lavender. It's also very pretty that way. And sometimes we add lavender buds to our soap. However, we do this on order because the buds have a tendency to change the colour of the soap and give it a darker greenish tinge Since what we want to do is delight you, we will make this soap the way you want.
